On Saturday 8th June it’s a big night for The Gambling Badgers. It’s the release party for their very first album “Kings” at the Melusina. Despite it not yet being out, FUZE has exclusively grabbed a copy to give you a sneak preview review!

Kings cover

The album includes eleven powerful tracks as well as two bonus tracks including an acoustic version of their best-known song “Dance”. The Gambling Badgers play straight forward British oriented alternative Rock.

The album mostly follows the band’s spirit. In his unique way Dennis Nnganyadi sings about money, fame, friendship and the ups and downs of a rock star’s life. Tom Fielitz’s searing guitar parts add the right touch of rock (a good example is “Johnny The Bastard”).

The Gambling Badgers give a mature and self-confident impression. They definitely know how to celebrate themselves. “The Anthem” actually a song about the band itself, is a good example of the positive attitude that is carried throughout the whole album. Carpe diem at its finest!

Gamble, but don’t gamble with your life!

However “Kings” is more than a hymn to gambling and rock ‘n’ roll. Besides the
well-known clichés, discrimination and road deaths are subjects of the songs “Hope Dies Last” and “Living Rose”. They form a contrast to the rest of the album and prove that The Gambling Badgers are still firmly rooted in reality. Even the Gambling Badgers’ lives are not always a game.

Sticking to the gambling terminology, we’d say that “Kings” is a good flush. Even if you’re not into rock the album is definitely worth a listen.

The “Kings” album comes in a standard jewel case at the price of 12€.
